Three Signs That You’re Seriously Overworked

Being seriously overworked in the workplace is on the increase, mostly in recent times of surge in economic, social and extracurricular activities of people. Balancing work and these activities with adequate relaxation can be difficult. Such that we often find ourselves being caught in a web or cycle which ties us to work longer than necessary without looking out for the signs of being overworked.

Too much work makes you overrun your capacity; up to a point where you may no longer able to function effectively on a personal or professional level. It is difficult to notice the signs of being overworked as the victim, though our bodies and minds are structured to give signals or mild overworked symptoms before an impending shutdown. If you are sensitive and pay attention enough, you will be able to recognize it before it becomes too late.

Overworked symptoms are not easy to spot when you are working too hard for long hours, as you might misconstrue painful wake ups and general exhaustion as sure tip-offs. But surprising to note is the fact that our bodies and minds have a funny way of adjusting to the demands we place on them, at least for awhile. As you work for longer hours and the pressure gradually builds up, you might be oblivious of any danger until your health or your sanity crumbles.

Rather than get to that point, it will be good if you could watch out for early signs that your schedule and stress levels are starting to get out of hand to enable you to make swift adjustments before you’re seriously overworked.

Constant lateness could also mean being seriously overworked

Most human people do not keep to time regardless of the prevailing condition, but if you ever discover or observe that you are running late more often than usual, then it is probably as a result of an altered sleep pattern. This may be a warning sign that you are working too hard.

In the early stages, you may have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep for one or two nights in a week. In the latter stages, insomnia may become a persistent nightly ordeal; as exhausted as you are, you can't sleep.

You could also have other work activities you spend undue time on which makes you several minutes late to every other meeting and or event.

    Anxiety and forgetfulness

You may begin to experience mild symptoms of tension, worry, and edginess. This might be as a result of you spending all of your time in a state of intense focus, putting yourself under stress by staying too long over and over again on a particular activity, without giving your brain a chance to approach problems from a fresh perspective. This might degenerate to impaired concentration and attention making you to experience loss of focus and also experience mild forgetfulness.

    Introversion and Chronic Fatigue

You may now discover that you have lost your ability to socialize easily and nicely with others, just because you're working too much and have lost touch on your social life. You may also feel tired most times and later on become physically and emotionally exhausted, drained, and deplete, all because you have expended tremendous energy on work.
